Two New ‘BTK’ Documentaries Coming in February Gives Insights into His Double Life
This year is giving us intimate looks into many notorious serial killers. Just weeks after Netflix released it’s Ted Bundy documentary, two separate networks are to bring us BTK documentaries. An inclusive interview with Kerri Rawson, the daughter of Dennis Rader (a.k.a BTK) will be the focus of ABC’s 20/20 Documentary Event Special: My Father BTK. The trailer for the special shows Rawson recount the day she found out her father was the notorious killer. Rader had plagued Wichita, Kansas by murdering 10 people over a 30+ year period.
Investigation Discovery (ID) will also air a two hour documentary entitled BTK: A KILLER AMONG US, coming later in the month. The special will also feature Kerri Rawson giving more details into her father. Per the press release, Rawson recounts her father assuring her that the serial killer taunting their area would not hurt her. “It’s okay, don’t worry. You’re safe.”
It would be years before she would come to find out her father was actually the infamous Serial Killer. “This is a horrifically perfect example of a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” said Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery. “It’s shocking to think that for 31 years, Dennis Rader was able to live a double life. One as a doting husband and father, and the other as one of our country’s most vicious and prolific serial murderers.”
The 20/20 special will air on ABC February 1, 2019 9/8c. The Investigation Discovery documentary will air Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 10/9c. Both documentaries will also feature interviews with, reporters, victim’s family members, and law enforcement. Moreover, the two documentaries look to provide a voice to the victims, which included his own family.
