Hidey-ho! ‘Child’s Play’ Reboot Trailer Coming Next Week

The first trailer for the upcoming ‘Child’s Play’ reboot will be out next week. Reportedly, the trailer will accompany The Prodigy, which is in theaters February 8th. So far, fans have gotten a glimpse of the new project from its promotional posters. But, we already know that the new Buddi (not, Buddy) doll will be getting a new look. This project seeks to update our favorite slasher doll. However, fans are sure to feel the absence of Dourif, and his iconic Chucky laugh.

Longtime voice of Chucky, Brad Dourif and creator Don Mancini are not involved with this project. Instead they are focused on the ‘Child’s Play’ TV series coming soon for SyFy. News of the two projects have divided the fans of the series. Leaving many wanting to see a new big screen installments of the beloved slasher doll, Chucky.

However, Universal retained the rights to TV and home video, while MGM obtained the theatrical rights. Leaving MGM wanting to take the franchise in a new direction. While Universal and the creator felt differently. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait and see if the reboot will give them a new twisted doll to love.

New Generation of Buddi Dolls

According to Don Mancini, the TV series will follow the original storyline of the first film from 1988. The new Buddi doll, for the upcoming film will not be inhabited by the soul of a serial killer. Instead, this doll is reportedly more robotic, but with a sinister defect. We can only hope that there is some sort of Heart of Damballa app to help us with our voodoo needs. Moreover, the trailer will give us the first real look at what MGM and Orion have brought to the table for Chucky fans.
