‘The Lost Boys’: Warner Bros Moving Ahead with Remake After CW Passes on Series

The Lost Boys was supposed to come back as a tv series on the CW. However, after they opted not to move forward, Warner Bros. has decided to remake it as a feature film. This new version of The Lost Boys will be written by screenwriter Randy McKinnon, with Jonathan Entwistle directing according to sources for THR.

After CW saw some of the pilot they decided not to move forward with the longtime passion project for Rob Thomas.The Lost Boys TV version, was to be an update of the storyline, with a mother and her Gen Z sons moving to the seaside town. But as the boys explore the town they discover that the hip cool kids are actually vampires.

Warner Bros. has already cast A Quiet Place actor Noah Jupe, and It actor Jaeden Martell. Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger will be producing the new take.The original film grossed over $32M at the domestic B.O., and was known for featuring many 90’s heartthrobs of the day.

The original The Lost Boys was directed by Joel Schumacher and starred Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Alex Winter, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, Bernard Hughes, and Edward Herrmann. We’ll reserve judgement until the film hits theaters, but if it doesn’t have a lovable husky named Nanook, we don’t want it!
