The CW is Bringing Back ‘The Lost Boys’: Here’s Our Must Haves

Last week it was announced that the CW will be bringing back horror fan’s favorite vampire clan. While not every one loves a reboot or a remake, there is always room for an update on a classic story. However, there are a few things that fans of the original will want to see. As avid horror fans, here are a few things that are nonnegotiable for us.

Scary Vampires

Warner Bros.

We know that the new show will be restricted to what they can do for the gore and blood that horror fans usually crave. But to keep us interested we need at least some creepy, scary, and ruthless vampires. We can hope that the new series will avoid falling into the romance genre by giving us too much sappiness. We know the original had a touch of the lovey stuff, but the story was focused on the vampires, and the humans they came into contact with. Please, not a bunch of teenagers lusting after each other. We will accept less half shirts and hair product, though.

An Eccentric Relative

Warner Bros.

As any fan of the original 87′ version can attest, Bernard Hughes’ character gave us some best lines of the film. The character of Grandpa carried most of The Lost Boys’ comedic moments. His charming, slightly hoarded, and remote home was also a major component to the storyline. Who couldn’t relate to Grandpa’s avoidance of people? Hopefully, CW will give us a new cooky relative for some light moments in the new series. Even if they can’t give us a more iconic line than, “one thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires.”

The Frog Brothers

Warner Bros.

For us, it doesn’t have to be the Frog Brothers exactly. We just need a team of conspiracy/supernatural enthusiasts to lead our new protagonists through. The team knew their stuff without actually knowing their stuff, but nonetheless they were able to take on the vampires fearlessly. This is why we need an updated version of them for the upcoming reboot. After all they were dedicated to a higher purpose, they were fighters for truth, justice, and the American way!

Nanook

Warner Bros.

Finally, the CW and the show runner must give us a furry friend to battle the vampires with. Man’s best friend took on a new meaning with Nanook, Sam’s (Cory Haim) best friend. Nanook stayed by his human’s side, and helped to fight the vampires multiple times. If there isn’t a four legged companion in the reboot we’ll have to call the whole thing a wash.

We will have to wait for the series to know what the new story will be about. But for now we can all hope/speculate that they will do the film justice and give us a new generation of badass vampires.

  1. OMG! I can’t believe how excited I am about this. And also leery – the original is so iconic (and still gives me the willies) and it’s so easy to wreck these reboots. I’m cautiously optimistic, though, and will definitely watch a few episodes to see how it evolves. Now, I need to go find the original…

  2. The Lost Boys will always remind me of the Big Bang Theory episode when Raj and Howard pretend that they’re goth to pick up chicks. And they go around calling themselves the Lost Boys

  3. i am not one to care for vampires or movies and films really, but ill have to share this with my friends who would love this! thanks for sharing

  4. I’m very much a Supernatural fan myself, but I’m always looking to watch something new. Very excited for what the CW has in store and hopefully they take your suggestions to heart.

  5. Horror is not generally my go to in a TV show or movie. (My husband, on the other hand, will probably love this.) I’ll definitely be sharing this with him.

  6. There are always high expectations with remakes. It will be quite interesting to see if new twists will be given, what new technology will be used and how the characters will change. There will always be die hard fans, that will follow and love, no matter what.

  7. I’m pumped, but also a little apprehensive. This is the Age of Remakes, and not all of them are good. Lost Boys is a serious cult classic, so I hope they do it justice.

  8. I never saw the original and I’m not sure if it’s up my alley or not. Everything is worth a shot, though! 🙂

  9. Don’t remember any of this lol but I love watching remakes of shows I never watched growing up and then watching the original to see what the differences are and f the remake is any good.

  10. Tbh I have never heard of them. But now that you have mentioned about them I will definitely check them out.

  11. It is going to be interesting to see what they come up with. I am betting on a really awesome reboot. That is if, like you said, they avoid the sniffles of a romantic take.

  12. The Scary Vampires has to be my favorite of the three. Thanks to the fact that I love horror and spooky movies.

  13. Hmm…I’ve never seen Lost Boys. I’m not really a horror fan – but my husband might like it! I’ll tell him to check it out!

  14. I have never seen the original. But after reading your review very excited to watch the new one. Great review. Thanks for sharing it.

  15. Oh wow! Something definitely from my era. So fun! I hope it’s as good or better than the original. 🙂
