Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Colman Domingo Join ‘Candyman’ Reboot
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits) and Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead) are both joining the upcoming Candyman reboot. The news was exclusively revealed by Deadline on Tuesday. This casting is the latest for the film, which just began production this week. The reboot, will be directed by Nia DaCosta, and will be released on June 12, 2020.
The film is said to be a “spiritual sequel” to Benard Rose’s 1992 movie. Filming will take place in Chicago and focus on the now-gentrified neighborhoods where the legend of Candyman started. Other cast members already attached to the project include, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Us) and Teyonah Parris (If Beale Street Could Talk). Tony Todd has also stated that he would be in the updated version.
Fans were originally apprehensive about a reboot of the beloved film that spawned the franchise. However, after casting details and news of Todd’s involvement began circulating, fans began to relax a little. “In [Candyman reboot producer] Jordan Peele’s case I really like what I’ve seen of his work so far,” Todd shared with Forbes. “I have full confidence in that remake being in competent hands and he and I have talked. I can’t say anything further than that, but I think the fans are going to be happy.”
So say his name five times, and Candyman will appear in theaters June 12, 2020. What do you think of the latest casting? Leave us a comment and let us know your thoughts. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd for more of all things horror!
