‘Last Voyage of the Demeter’ André Øvredal in Talks to Direct New Dracula Tale

André Øvredal is in talks to direct a new Dracula tale for Amblin Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed. The vampire story has made a long journey to production.  The Last Voyage of the Demeter was written back in 2002 by Bragi Schut (Escape Room).

This Dracula story follows the journey of the ship Demeter. Which carried Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. One by one, members of the crew fall victim to the mysterious passenger.

The project has had a long journey to realization. Over the years, it changed companies multiple times. In 2012 director David Slade came close to getting the film out to sea. With a cast that included Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace it was expected to move forward. However, things fell through and nothing got off the ground.

But now director André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) is in talks to helm the project. Besides Scary Stories, Øvredal has also directed the horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Last Voyage is expected to be completed after his upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Long Walk.
