Now that summer has officially come to an end, the spooky season has begun. Luckily for horror fans, there are lots of new films to keep us scared throughout the season. So here is our guide to all the new horror films coming in fall 2019.

Prey

Release Date: September 27

Synopsis: Blumhouse and Director Franck Khalfoun will make you rethink a trip to paradise. Toby, played by Logan Miller, is marooned on an idyllic island retreat. But things quickly go awry when he discovers he is being hunted. A bloodthirsty jungle creature stalks Toby and a mysterious woman he meets along the way. Starring alongside Miller is Kristine Froseth (Apostle) and Jolene Anderson (Nazi Undead). Prey is currently available on VOD services.

The Furies

Release Date: October 3

Synopsis: Rebellious high school students Kayla and her best friend Maddie find themselves abducted by a sinister presence and stalked, along with six other women, by men in terrifying masks. Starring Airlie Dodds, Linda Ngo, Taylor Ferguson, and directed by Tony D’Aquino. The Furies will be available to stream on Shudder and Shudder Canada this October.

In the Tall Grass

Release Date: October 4

Synopsis: Based on the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill, when siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him. However they soon become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them. Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found. Written and directed by Vincenzo Natali and starring  Laysla De Oliveira, Avery Whitted, Patrick Wilson. In the Tall Grass will be available to stream on Netflix this fall.

Wrinkles the Clown

Release Date: October 4

Synopsis: In late 2014, a low-res video of a person in a clown mask emerging from underneath a sleeping child’s bed appears on YouTube. The description below the video claims that the clown is named “Wrinkles.” A clown living in southwest Florida, and that he’s been hired by the child’s parents to frighten her for misbehaving. Soon, more mysterious videos of Wrinkles scaring children appear online, along with a phone number to hire him for “behavioral services.” With incredible access to the mastermind behind the mask, Wrinkles the Clown is an inside look at myth-building and the unpredictable spread of imagination in the Internet age. Wrinkles the Clown will get a limited theatrical release this fall.

Little Monsters

Release Date: October 8

Synopsis: A washed-up musician teams up with a teacher and a kids show personality to protect young children from a sudden outbreak of zombies. Little Monsters stars Lupita Nyong’o, Josh Gad, and Stephen Peacocke. The film will have a limited theatrical release on October 8 and will stream on Hulu October 11.

Parasite

Release Date: October 11

Synopsis: This South Korean dark comedy thriller film was directed by Bong Joon- ho. Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. Parasite will come to theaters in New York and LA on October 11.

Gwen

Release Date: October 17

Synopsis: In this stark and atmospheric tale, Gwen is a young girl struggling with her mother’s mysterious illness, her father’s absence and the suspicious local community that has turned on them. Somehow Gwen must find the strength to guide her family through the darkness and overcome the evil that is taking grip of her home. Starring Maxine Peake, Eleanor Worthington-Cox, and Richard Harrington, directed by William McGregor. Gwen will stream exclusively on Shudder and Shudder Canada on October 17.

Zombieland: Double Tap

Release Date: October 18

Synopsis: Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland. Our four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie. As well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family. Starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone. This long awaited sequel finally comes to theaters this fall.

The Lighthouse

Release Date: October 18

Synopsis: There is enchantment in the light. The hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. From Robert Eggers, acclaimed director of ‘The Witch,’ and starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. The Lighthouse comes to theaters this October.

Wounds

Release Date: October 18

Synopsis: Disturbing and mysterious things begin happening to a New Orleans bartender after he picks up a phone left behind in his bar. Wounds stars Zazie Beetz, Dakota Johnson, and Armie Hammer. This film will stream exclusively on Hulu this October.

Eli

Release Date: October 18

Synopsis: A boy receiving treatment for his auto-immune disorder discovers that the house he’s living isn’t as safe as he thought. Starring  Kelly Reilly, Sadie Sink, and Max Martini. Eli will premiere exclusively on Netflix this fall.

Countdown

Release Date: October 25

Synopsis: When a young nurse (Elizabeth Lail) downloads an app that claims to predict exactly when a person is going to die, it tells her she only has three days to live. With time ticking away and death closing in, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out. Countdown stars  Charlie McDermott, Anne Winters, and Elizabeth Lail.

Girl on the Third Floor

Release Date: October 25

Synopsis: Don Koch tries to renovate a rundown mansion with a sordid history for his growing family. However he soon learns that the house has other plans. Starring C.M. Punk, Trieste Kelly Dunn, and Sarah Brooks.  This psychological horror will appear in theaters this fall.

Nightmare Cinema

Release Date: October 29

Synopsis: This twisted horror anthology was directed by a killer lineup of genre legends. Five strangers are drawn to an abandoned theater and forced to watch their deepest and darkest fears play out before them. Lurking in the shadows is the Projectionist, who preys upon their souls with his collection of disturbing films. As each reel spins its sinister tale, the characters find frightening parallels to their own lives.​

Starring Mickey Rourke, Richard Chamberlain and Adam Godley. Directed by Alejandro Brugués (Juan of the Dead), Joe Dante (​Gremlins), Mick Garris (The Stand​ miniseries), Ryûhei Kitamura (The Midnight Meat Train) and David Slade (B​lack Mirror: Bandersnatch). Doctor Sleep

Release Date: November 6

Synopsis: Struggling with alcoholism, Dan Torrance remains traumatized by the sinister events that occurred at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. His hope for a peaceful existence soon becomes shattered when he meets Abra, a teen who shares his extrasensory gift of the “shine.” Together, they form an unlikely alliance to battle the True Knot, a cult whose members try to feed off the shine of innocents to become immortal. Starring Rebecca Ferguson, Ewan McGregor, and Jacob Tremblay, the world will shine again this fall.

The Lodge

Release Date: November 15

Synopsis: Trapped inside a cabin by a fierce blizzard, two children and their future stepmother must fight for their lives against an unseen evil force. Starring Riley Keough, Jaeden Martell, Lia McHugh, Alicia Silverstone, and Richard Armitage. This isolation horror-thriller comes to theaters this fall.

In Fabric

Release Date: December 6

Synopsis: A lonely woman (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), recently separated from her husband, visits a bewitching London department store in search of a dress that will transform her life. She’s fitted with a perfectly flattering, artery-red gown—which, in time, will come to unleash a malevolent curse and unstoppable evil, threatening everyone who comes into its path. Starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Hayley Squires, and Leo Bill. In Fabric comes to theaters this fall.

Brahms: The Boy II

Release Date: December 6

Synopsis: The sequel to the 2016 film The Boy, the story follows a young family who moves to the Heelshire’s residence. Terror strikes soon after a boy from the family discovers a doll called Brahms that appears to be eerily human. Starring Owain Yeoman, Katie Holmes, and Ralph Ineson. Brahms: The Boy II appears in theaters everywhere in early December.

Black Christmas

Release Date: December 13

Synopsis: Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. One by one, sorority girls on campus are being killed by a stalker. But the killer is about to discover that this generation’s women aren’t willing to become hapless victims as they fight back. Starring Cary Elwes (Saw), Imogen Poots, and Aleyse Shannon. Black Christmas comes to theaters everywhere this fall.
