Now that summer has officially come to an end, the spooky season has begun. Luckily for horror fans, there are lots of new films to keep us scared throughout the season. So here is our guide to all the new horror films coming in fall 2019.

Prey

Release Date: September 27

Synopsis: Blumhouse and Director Franck Khalfoun will make you rethink a trip to paradise. Toby, played by Logan Miller, is marooned on an idyllic island retreat. But things quickly go awry when he discovers he is being hunted. A bloodthirsty jungle creature stalks Toby and a mysterious woman he meets along the way. Starring alongside Miller is Kristine Froseth (Apostle) and Jolene Anderson (Nazi Undead). Prey is currently available on VOD services.

The Furies

Synopsis: Rebellious high school students Kayla and her best friend Maddie find themselves abducted by a sinister presence and stalked, along with six other women, by men in terrifying masks. Starring Airlie Dodds, Linda Ngo, Taylor Ferguson, and directed by Tony D’Aquino. The Furies will be available to stream on Shudder and Shudder Canada this October.

In the Tall Grass

Synopsis: Based on the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill, when siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him. However they soon become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them. Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found. Written and directed by Vincenzo Natali and starring  Laysla De Oliveira, Avery Whitted, Patrick Wilson. In the Tall Grass will be available to stream on Netflix this fall.

Wrinkles the Clown

Synopsis: In late 2014, a low-res video of a person in a clown mask emerging from underneath a sleeping child’s bed appears on YouTube. The description below the video claims that the clown is named “Wrinkles.” A clown living in southwest Florida, and that he’s been hired by the child’s parents to frighten her for misbehaving. Soon, more mysterious videos of Wrinkles scaring children appear online, along with a phone number to hire him for “behavioral services.” With incredible access to the mastermind behind the mask, Wrinkles the Clown is an inside look at myth-building and the unpredictable spread of imagination in the Internet age. Wrinkles the Clown will get a limited theatrical release this fall.

Little Monsters

Synopsis: A washed-up musician teams up with a teacher and a kids show personality to protect young children from a sudden outbreak of zombies. Little Monsters stars Lupita Nyong’o, Josh Gad, and Stephen Peacocke. The film will have a limited theatrical release on October 8 and will stream on Hulu October 11.

Parasite

Parasite Fall 2019

Release Date: October 11

Synopsis: This South Korean dark comedy thriller film was directed by Bong Joon- ho. Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. Parasite will come to theaters in New York and LA on October 11.

Gwen

Synopsis: In this stark and atmospheric tale, Gwen is a young girl struggling with her mother’s mysterious illness, her father’s absence and the suspicious local community that has turned on them. Somehow Gwen must find the strength to guide her family through the darkness and overcome the evil that is taking grip of her home. Starring Maxine Peake, Eleanor Worthington-Cox, and Richard Harrington, directed by William McGregor. Gwen will stream exclusively on Shudder and Shudder Canada on October 17.

Zombieland: Double Tap

This long awaited sequel finally comes to theaters this fall.

The Lighthouse

Synopsis: There is enchantment in the light. The hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. From Robert Eggers, acclaimed director of ‘The Witch,’ and starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. The Lighthouse comes to theaters this October.

Wounds

Synopsis: Disturbing and mysterious things begin happening to a New Orleans bartender after he picks up a phone left behind in his bar. Wounds stars Zazie Beetz, Dakota Johnson, and Armie Hammer. This film will stream exclusively on Hulu this October.

Release Date: October 18

Synopsis: A boy receiving treatment for his auto-immune disorder discovers that the house he’s living isn’t as safe as he thought. Starring  Kelly Reilly, Sadie Sink, and Max Martini. Eli will premiere exclusively on Netflix this fall.

Brahms: The Boy II

Brahms: The Boy II appears in theaters everywhere in early December.

Black Christmas

Synopsis: Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. One by one, sorority girls on campus are being killed by a stalker. But the killer is about to discover that this generation’s women aren’t willing to become hapless victims as they fight back. Starring Cary Elwes (Saw), Imogen Poots, and Aleyse Shannon. Black Christmas comes to theaters everywhere this fall.
