‘Critters: A New Binge’ Will Roll Its Way to Shudder in March

It’s been more than 25 years since we’ve seen our favorite pint sized aliens. Now they are back and hungry for more!

Shudder announced Thursday that they had acquired the exclusive rights to Critters: A New Binge. The new horror-comedy series from Warner Bros. Television Group’s digital studio, and Blue Ribbon Content, will feature eight short-form episodes. Jordan Rubin, Jon Kaplan, and Al Kaplan, (Zombeavers) wrote and served as executive producers on the series.

Pursued by intergalactic bounty hunters, the Critters return to Earth on a secret mission and encounter lovelorn high-schooler Christopher (Joey Morgan, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), his crush Dana (Stephi Chin-Salvo, iZOMBIE), his best friend Charlie (Bzhaun Rhoden, Van Helsing), and his mom Veronica (Kirsten Robek, The Edge of Seventeen), whose past will come back to bite them—literally. The series also features Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin, Justice League Action) and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!).

Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President, Blue Ribbon Content, and Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Warner Bros. Animation had this to say about the project: “It’s been more than 30 years since the Critters first landed on the big screen, and we’re incredibly proud to bring this cult classic franchise back to fans. Shudder is the perfect platform for this fun, scary new take on everyone’s favorite, furry extraterrestrial threat. We are committed to delivering Shudder members the best horror content available and this time we are also bringing the laughs.”

  1. I WILL BE WATCHING THIS! I wish they’d make a Tremor’s or Gremlins TV series as well. Or a GHOULIES TV series! YESS that would rule! I was a big fan of Zombeavers, so I’m excited to see what the producers do with this!

  2. This looks awesome! I never watched the original but it definitely looks like something I could totally get into. Like Scott, I too got a Stranger Things vibe from it. And boy oh boy there have been many a binge session watching that show! Looking forward to checking this one out!

  3. The critters are so cute! I feel like they would give me nightmares though too. Sucked in by the cuteness factor, then that’s when they attack. This could definitely be worth watching though.

  4. More than 30 years and they are back to unleash havoc on a whole new generation! Looks like it’ll be worth the watch.

  5. I didn’t know that old movie, but it looks interesting and fun to watch. I always love horror-comedy though, so I would definitely wait for this. 🙂

  6. This is my first time hearing anything about this, it looks and sounds like it will be a great watch.

  7. I like how critters look- quite cute! Not scary at all! I am scared of horror movies and not really a big fan of them. But this one looks quite interesting, I want to try at least a few episodes at least for the sake of those cute critters.

  8. My husband will surely enjoy this. I am not sure if this is my kind of movie though. It almost makes me shudder thinking about it. lol
