‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ Stars Talk Upcoming Sequel

Ten years after the first installment, ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ will finally be coming to theaters. Recently, Woody Harrelson, and Jesse Eisenberg, both spoke about production and their hopes for the sequel.

While promoting his new Netflix film, ‘The Highwaymen’ at SXSW, Harrelson spoke to EW. “What we’ve shot so far, I’m really impressed with,” Harrelson said. Adding that, “getting to hang out with these guys — Emma, and Abbie, and Jesse, and Ruben — I feel so lucky, really, really lucky. You know, it’s literally laughing all day long, and that’s your job. Like, my job is, I laugh all day long? It seems unbelievable. So, I feel really lucky right now.”

A Worthy Sequel

While also at SXSW, Eisenberg spoke with Vulture, giving more insights into the film. After confirming that the film will pick up ten years later with Columbus, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). He also confirmed that the band of ragtag survivors take up residence in the abandoned White House.

“It took ten years to make because we were just insistent that the script be great — which sounds like it should be obvious, but that’s not always the case. Because the movie is not only popular but also beloved, people feel like it has some personal resonance for them, so we wanted to make sure that it’s as good or better than the first,” he said. “And it feels that way! We have two weeks left and it feels really great. Everything we’ve done feels very funny.”

Zombieland: Double Tap’ will come to theaters this October with the original cast, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin. Joining them are newcomers to the franchise, Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Luke Wilson, Thomas Middleditch, and Avan Jogia. It’s also rumored that we may be getting a Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd surprise cameo. So fans everywhere are in for sequel worthy of the ten year wait. It looks as if the cast and filmmakers are up to that challenge.

‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ is expected to hit theaters October 11, 2019.
