‘The Staircase’: Sophie Turner Joins Colin Firth and Toni Collette In True Crime HBOMax Series
We first told you about the new HBOMax series, based on the true crime case of Michael Peterson, The Staircase, a few months ago. Now, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) has joined the cast of the limited series, which will head directly to HBOMax sources for THR confirmed.
Based on the true story of novelist Michael Peterson, who was convicted of the death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson, at his sprawling North Carolina family home. Turner is reportedly portraying Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson’s adopted daughters.

With the help of Jean-Xavier de Lestrade’s docu-series also entitled The Staircase, the HBOMax series will reconstruct the strange events of the case against Peterson. De Lestrade’s series also explores the 16-year court battle that followed, after Peterson became the prime suspect when his wife was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in their home.
Sophie Turner will now join the all-star cast in the series including Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Juliette Binoche, Rosemarie DeWitt and Parker Posey. The series was written and executive produced by showrunners Antonio Campos (The Devil All the Time) and Maggie Cohn (American Crime Story).
