Trailer: ‘False Positive’ Ilana Glazer Shows Us How Creepy Pregnancy Can Be

The first trailer for False Positive, the upcoming Hulu feature, was just released ahead of its June 25th debut. Broad City star Ilana Glazer, plays Lucy, who is attempting to conceive a child with her partner Adrian, Justin Theroux. The couple enlist the help of a renown fertility specialist, Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan) and his oddly sterile clinic.

Everything seems to be going smoothly when Lucy becomes pregnant. However as her stomach grows, she begins having visions and becomes certain that Dr. Hindle has impregnated her with something not quite human.

Glazer and John Lee, co-wrote the film, based on a story Lee had co-written with author Alissa Nutting. In which Nutting and Lee explored the role of the patriarchy in pregnancy medicine and in vitro fertilization. Lee also stepped into the direct the new A24 thriller, Sophia Bush and Gretchen Mol also co-star.

“It’s about how the patriarchy is expressed through medicine,” Glazer previously told EW of her debut lead film role. “Lucy believes that, at a base level, she is free and in charge of her own decisions. But she’s not.”
