‘Spirit Halloween’ Movie: First Look at Christopher Lloyd and More, Plus Plot Details Revealed

Those of us who live for spooky season, know that it officially begins when the Spirit Halloween stores open their doors in the beginning of August. This year we will also have a Spirit Halloween movie to enjoy when October rolls around. Today Variety exclusively revealed a sneak peek at the first images of Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook on set and more plot details.

Spirit Halloween will see Lloyd (best known for Back to the Future) playing Alec Windsor, a wealthy land developer. Who on one Halloween night, decades ago disappeared without a trace, and ever since his cursed spirit is said to haunt the town for one hour every October 31.

Cook (“He’s All That”) plays Sue, a widow who just recently remarried. Sue’s teen son Jake and his friends decide to spend the night in a Spirit Halloween store that just opened in an abandoned strip mall. When an angry spirit possess the animatronics inside, the teens will have to fight their way out.

Joining Lloyd and Cook are Donavan Colan (“Zoe,” “Chapelwaite”)Dylan Martin Frankel (“Raven’s Home,” “Life & Beth”), Jaiden Smith (“Blue Bloods,” “Two Sentence Horror Stories”), Marissa Reyes (“Raven’s Home”) and Marla Gibbs (El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie).

The film was written by Billie Bates and directed by David Poag. The production was a collaboration between Hideout Pictures & Particular Crowd in association with Film Mode Entertainment. Produced by Noor Ahmed and Shannon Houchins, with Tomás’ Yanelevich, Peter Bevan, Mariana Sanjurjo and Clay Epstein executive producing. The production also formed a promotional partnership for the film with Spirit Halloween, which has over 1,425 locations across North America.

“We’re thrilled to be introducing exclusive first-look footage of Spirit Halloween to buyers from all over the world for the first time in Cannes and to give audiences around the world a sneak-peak into the ultimate family/kids adventure film,” said Epstein. “The response from the global marketplace has continues to be positively overwhelming.”
