New Live-Action ‘Goosebumps’ Series Ordered at Disney+
Disney+ has picked up a new, live-action Goosebumps series based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling books. The series has been in development for about two years now, from Scholastic Entertainment, producer Neal H. Moritz and Sony Pictures TV. However, the news was announced that the series would head to the streaming platform during the Disney Branded Television’s TCA presentation on Monday.

The original series ran from 1995-1998 and brought some of R.L. Stine‘s most popular stories to life. The new series is being written by Nick Stoller (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) and Rob Letterman (Pokémon Detective Pikachu).
According to sources for Deadline, Goosebumps will combine teen comedy with horror, action-adventure, mystery and psychological thrill. “The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together — thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries and pasts with each other — in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.”
Currently, no premiere date for the series has been set. But you can revisit all 74 episodes of the original Goosebumps series now streaming on Netflix. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd and we will keep up updated as this story develops.
