Jason Reitman Shares First Look from ‘Ghostbusters’ Set
“The Family’s All Here,” director Jason Reitman tweeted on Friday evening. The image that accompanied the caption showed the director with the new additions to the Ghostbusters universe. Carrie Coon (“The Leftovers”), Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) and Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home) portray a family that will be the main focus of the film.
The photo is the first cast photo as filming begins on the Alberta, Canada set. Plot details are still being kept under wraps for now. However, Reitman, whose father, Ivan Reitman directed the 1984 Ghostbusters, stated that this is a continuation of the original storyline. “I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Reitman, previously told EW. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
We also know that Paul Rudd has joined the cast and is playing a teacher living in a small town. Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim recently joined the cast, and some of the original cast members have committed to the project. Sigourney Weaver has stated that she and co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray have roles in the new film.
The Jason Reitman helmed Ghostbusters will be released in 2020. You can check out the teaser trailer below. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd for more of all things horror!
