HBO Max to Adapt ‘Throttle’ From Stephen King and Joe Hill
The new age of Stephen King content is full steam ahead! We just reported about an upcoming adaptation of his novel Revival. Today, Deadline. revealed that HBO Max has acquired the rights to King and son Joe Hill’s novella Throttle for a feature adaptation. With their huge ratings from The Outsider, it’s no wonder that they are in search of other King’s works.
Warner Bros., HBO’s parent company has been helping to further the recent King Renaissance since 2017’s It: Chapter One.
Joe Hill, co-wrote the story with his father. Hill has also had many of his stories adapted, including AMC’s NOS4A2 and Netflix’s Locke & Key. Throttle, focuses on a father and son who lead a motorcycle gang who are being relentlessly pursued by a big rig. The short story was first published in 2009 in the anthology He Is Legend and was followed-up with a comic book adaptation in 2012. The adaptation for Throttle will be written by Leigh Dana Jackson (Sleepy Hollow) and produced by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Terminator: Dark Fate) with Keith Levine.
Clearly, there is no word of when the project will begin production. But be sure to follow ScaryNerd and we will keep you updated on all things horror.
