AMC Networks Inks Deal for Anne Rice's 'Vampire Chronicles' and 'Lives of the Mayfair Witches'

The modern queen of the vampire novel, author Anne Rice, has been giving readers chills for years. Many of her novels have been adapted for television and film including her 1976 tale Interview with a Vampire.

Now AMC Networks has entered an agreement to acquire rights to both the Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches series. Which both encompass 18 books, including three crossovers between the two series. The deal also states that Anne and Christopher Rice, her son, will be executive producers of all TV and film projects that result.

According to THR AMC Networks is the latest of several stops for TV rights to The Vampire Chronicles. In November of 2016, Rice regained theatrical rights to the novels and was in the process of developing series based on the books.

“It’s always been my dream to see the worlds of my two biggest series united under a single roof so that filmmakers could explore the expansive and interconnected universe of my vampires and witches. That dream is now a reality, and the result is one of the most significant and thrilling deals of my long career,” said author Anne Rice.
