Brad Dourif and His Laugh are Back as ‘Chucky’ in New Series at SyFy/USA Networks
Brad Dourif has officially signed on to bring his voice talents back to everyones favorite murderous doll according to sources for Deadline. This announcement is a welcome development to fans of the original Child’s Play storyline set forth by creator Don Mancini. The new series Chucky is set to air sometime in 2021 on both SyFy and USA Networks.
Brad Dourif brought his voice to the character in 1988 with the first film, which saw the the soul of his character Charles Lee Ray placed into a child’s doll. Since then, he has been the sinister voice of the franchise spanning 7 films in total.
“In the new television series, a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale and throws an idyllic American town into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”
Don Mancini (Hannibal, Channel Zero), who wrote the entire franchise, will serve as showrunner and creator of Chucky. Long time franchise producer, David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, Frailty), will also serve as producer of the series. As far as cast, Dourif is the first cast member announced for the show. However, we are hopeful that other members of the Child’s Play family will return.
