It’s been more than 25 years since Adrienne Barbeau appeared in the 1982 film ‘Creepshow.’ But now she’s headed back for more. The film written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero, featured Barbeau, as a nagging wife who meets her end by way of a mysterious creature.

Barbeau was asked by series show runner, and long time horror nerd, Greg Nicotero. Also added to the cast was Giancarlo Esposito of ‘Better Call Saul’ and Tobin Bell of the ‘Saw‘ franchise. The three have been tapped to take on “Gray Matter,” based on a Stephen King short story by the same name.

Barbeau, who is also currently the host of the Shudder Original podcast, She Kills, recently commented on her return. “I was thrilled when Greg asked me to join the Creepshow world once again. And then working with Tobin and Giancarlo, with Greg as our director, well, that was the icing on the cake — no, not that cake. Oh, you know what I mean.”

The Story

The short story follows two old timers from a dying, small town. After encountering the terrified son of a local drunk, the two decide to brave a storm to check things out. The story, which was originally published in 1973, is also part of King’s best-selling 1978 collection, Night Shift.

“Gray Matter,” marks the eighth confirmed segment, out of the twelve currently slated for the shows six-episode season. Shudder has already confirmed other segments including, “By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain” by Joe Hill, “House of the Head” by Josh Malerman (Bird Box), “The Companion” by Joe R. Lansdale, Kasey Lansdale and Keith Lansdale, “The Man in the Suitcase” by Christopher Buehlman, “All Hallows Eve” by Bruce Jones, “Night of the Paw” by John Esposito, and “Bad Wolf Down” by Rob Schrab. Information on the remaining segments are expected to be released soon. The series is set to wrap production later this week in Atlanta, GA.

Creepshow‘ will premiere on Shudder sometime this year. Stay tuned to ScaryNerd for more updates.
