Lords of Chaos are Here to Rock Your World
Lords of Chaos tells the real story of a “true Norwegian black metal” band Mayhem, and their tale of arson and murder. The film is directed by Jonas Åkerlund, and stars Rory Culkin, Emory Cohen, Sky Ferreira, Valter Skarsgård and Jack Kilmer.
Åkerlund has directed several music videos and films, including the upcoming Netflix film Polar. Fun fact: he was also the original drummer for the Swedish metal band Bathory in the mid 80s. So, we are sure to get an authentic look into the Euro-metal scene.
The film takes place in the early 90s and tells the story of Euronymous (Culkin), as the band’s leader. After the Suicide of their original drummer, Euronymous joins up with Varg (Cohen) and their power struggle ignites a flurry of crimes. In the name of black metal, the pair begins performing shocking publicity stunts that quickly leads to church burnings and murder.
Lords of Chaos originally premiered at Sundance last year, but is finally getting its’ theatrical release on February 8th. While this isn’t a true horror film, its sure to have murder, gore, death metal and of course, chaos! Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
