‘Midnight Mass’: Netflix Reveals Details of Next Mike Flanagan Project
Mike Flanagan has quickly become one of the most sought after horror directors of the modern era. The director has previously helmed The Haunting of Hill House series, and film versions of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep.
Currently, Flanagan is in the process of filming the second installment of The Haunting series, The Haunting of Bly Manor. Which will be loosely based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. On Wednesday Netflix announced details for their next Flanagan project. Entitled Midnight Mass, the series will follow “an isolated island community experiences miraculous events and frightening omens after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.”

Zach Gilford (The Purge: Anarchy), Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House) and Hamish Linklater (Legion) will lead the new series. Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House), Michael Trucco, Samantha Sloyan, Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House), Rahul Abburi (Killer Ransom), Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep), Rahul Kohli, Kristin Lehman (The Chronicles of Riddick), Robert Longstreet (Doctor Sleep), Igby Rigney and Annarah Shephard have also been cast.
Midnight Mass is part of a multi-year Netflix deal that Flanagan, Trevor Macy and their Intrepid Pictures made last year. Flanagan will direct all seven episodes in the Midnight Mass series.
