19 thoughts on “10 Horror Books To Read Before They Hit Your Screens in 2019

  1. My wife read Doctor Sleep and loved it and I can’t wait to see Danny Torrance all grown up. The Shining is one of my favorites. I have also seen the trailers for Pet Semetary and it looks way better than the original version. This version of IT is a follow-up? How cool! I can’t wait. Thanks for the heads up.

  2. I need to add Pet Sematary and The Outsider to my reading list. They sound great, and the books are always better than the movies.

  3. I always enjoy a movie more if I do not know much about it. But I guess a horror book creates that additional interest to experience it live. Need to read a few at least before they hit the screen.

  4. Graet list of books! I have read several of them, and they’re a great addition to any reading list. I’m sending the page to Mr A as he loves this sort of fiction, and I bet he hasn’t read some of them, aside from Stephen King and Joe Hill (which he’s read all of).

  5. Great list! I am a huge horror book fan, which is strange because I rarely watch horror movies. I’ve had Doctor Sleep sitting on my bookshelf for over a year now and still haven’t read it. Reading your post, I’m reminded of it and now think I will finally delve into it! Stephen King is a master of his craft to be sure!!

  6. “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” was my absolute favorite when I was a kid! I seem now not to be able to tolerate scary stories now like I used to. Maybe it’s because now I know I’m definitely not invincible! Great list of reads, though. Stephen King seems to be able to pump them out with ease!

  7. I feel like the older I get, the less hardened I’ve become to scary stories! lol When I was younger I LOVED walking home from the movies after seeing a horror film-but now, I always have to close my eyes! Great list for sure! And I bet the horror lovers out there will totally enjoy!

  8. OMG! I was not prepared for this list lol. I do not do well with horrors but I have a friend who will be in ALT over these! Pet Sematary is one of her fave books so i’m sure she is just waiting for the movie lol . Now I know it’s happening I can prepare myself. Thanks for this list!

  9. I need to read Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark sounds great. It’s now on my reading list. I’m looking forward to Doctor Sleep bring released. I’m a huge fan of The Shining, so I’m hoping this is just as good. Thanks for giving me new books and movies to check out!

  10. Books are better than movies! I can not watch any horror audio visual, they are just too scary ! However, reading a horror book is much interesting. I will surely read at least few from your selection! Thanks for sharing the list.

  11. I wasn’t aware that there is a ‘Stephen King Renaissance’ – good to know. I think it is better to read the book first and then to see the movie. To create your own visualisation.

  12. The ‘Stephen King Renaissance’ is in full power all around the world we see more and more horror projects, films, books, theme parks!! it´s not my thing but you made an impressive list !
