Upcoming 'Predator' Film Lands '10 Cloverfield Lane' Director

20th Century Studios has enlisted director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) to helm the next installment in the Predator franchise. The film will mark the 5th movie to feature the hard to kill, hunter alien. Well, the 7th film if you happen to count the Alien vs Predator films. Patrick Aison, former writer for Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone, will pen the script.

Even though Deadline broke the news, it seems that Trachtenberg wasn’t ready for it to be known, just yet. He took to Twitter after the news broke and revealed that he had been planning for a different reveal.

Even though I am slightly disappointed that we won’t get the big reveal that was planned. At least we know that more Predator is on the way! For now they are keeping the plot line under wraps. However, sources for Deadline say that it will not follow the events of the 2018 film.

Fans of the franchise were initially worried when Disney purchased Fox. Many felt they wouldn’t have any interest in reviving the series, but it looks like that was not the case.
