On Sunday, Variety exclusive revealed that John Hannah, Corey Johnson and Oded Fehr would be reuniting for a new horror film. The three had previously appeared together in the first installment of ‘The Mummy’ franchise. Their new film, ‘Lair’, is being billed as a socially conscious horror movie. It features an LGBT family that has become embroiled in one man’s attempt to prove the existence of the supernatural.
Besides the ‘The Mummy’ trio, the cast also includes Katarina Cas, Julian Kostov, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jen Brister. Adam Ethan Crow will write and direct this picture, with Ditto Films producing. The film will head into production later this year.
Johnson stars as a self-proclaimed occult expert Dr. Steven Caramore. A man who has managed to make a living debunking claims of the supernatural. When a friend (Fehr) is accused of murder, he claims that he was possessed by a demon. Now Caramore has to put his own beliefs to the test. Hannah will star as Fehr’s lawyer.
Naturally, Caramore rents a places next to an unsuspecting family and fills it with cursed items, and surveillance equipment. Therefore setting off a chain of supernatural events. Cas and Brister will play a lesbian couple with two kids.
Alonso Varela (Guardians of the Galaxy) will serve as vfx supervisor, with cinematographer Stuart White also attached to the project. Production will take place in L.A. this September.
