‘The Conjuring’ Creators Team with Faster Horse Pictures for Next Horror Franchise
The creators behind The Conjuring franchise have lined up their next ghost project. Chad and Carey Hayes, are teaming up with Cindy Bond and Doug McKay of Faster Horse Pictures to bring fans a new haunted mansion horror franchise.
The Conjuring franchise grossed $1.9bn globally and produced a number of spin-off projects. Chad and Carey Hayes wrote The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2. Both films were centered around the real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The new franchise will also follow a real life ghost story of the LaLaurie Mansion, located in New Orleans. The mansion has been off limits to the public since 1932. However that hasn’t stopped tourists from traveling to visit the property.
“The LaLaurie Mansion is as scary a place as there is in the world and we won’t hold back in giving audiences the full effect. Chad and Carey will have their hands full, but they are true masters in cinematic retellings of disturbing material,” said McKay.
Naturally, this historic building has had many owners throughout the years. But now it’s owned by Michael Whalen, with Faster Horse. Which means unrestricted access to the mansion that was originally built in 1831.

The Dark History
The house was made infamous by its resident Madame Lalaurie. Who was a New Orleans socialite and serial killer who tortured and murdered numerous slaves. Her crimes were only exposed due to a house fire, however, she fled the city and was never arrested.
“In 1834, an enslaved person chained to the stove set the house on fire, fearing her fate would end on the third floor of the house, where many of the victims would be led to never return. Firefighters discovered the horrors in the hidden rooms on the third floor and Madame LaLaurie fled the city, never to be seen again.”
The mansion is said to be one of the most active paranormal sites in the world. For that reason it has been closed to the public with no tours allowed in the house. However, Faster Horse partner, Michael Whalen, purchased and owns this house. The Hayes Brothers are entertaining the idea of writing the first draft in the house. The production also intends to shoot some of the film on-site, including an extensive amount of behind-the-scenes footage. This will hopefully give the public an intimate look into the spooky mansion.
“We love writing films in which we get to tell true stories – incorporating moments that people can look up and discover did in fact happen. With the LaLaurie House we get to do exactly that. There is a wealth of documentation of a very dark and frightening past of true events. Not to mention that after spending some time there, what we personally experienced was truly unnerving. We haven’t been this excited about a project since the Conjuring!” said the Hayes brothers.
With a backstory like the LaLaurie Mansion, the film is sure to grab the attention of fans. What do you think of The Conjuring creators bringing a new ghost story to life? Leave a comment below and let us know your thoughts. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd for more of all things horror!
