We’ve known about a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre for almost a year now. However, the plot of the story has remained completely under wraps. Now the film’s producer, Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead) says that this Texas Chainsaw Massacre will not attempt to reboot or remake the original, but instead will give fans a sequel to the 1974 film.
The new sequel filmed last year and was directed by David Blue Garcia (Tejano), with a script from Chris Thomas Devlin. Alvarez recently sat down with BloodyDisgusting‘s podcast The Boo Crew and gave fans insights into the new film.
“It is a direct sequel, and it is the same character. It is old man Leatherface,” Alvarez confirmed. “Everything is classic, old school gags. A lot of the approach that we had with Evil Dead – never VFX, to do everything on camera. It’s a very old school approach to filmmaking. Vintage lenses… it’s very similar to the original film,” Alvarez explained to the podcast.

As we said before Alvarez is producing the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Joining him is Bad Hombre’s Rodolfo Sayagues, and Exurbia Films’ Kim Henkel (co-writer of the 1974 film), Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy. Details are still being kept quiet, but with the poster and Alvarez’s comments we can assume that Leatherface will be the main focus of the latest sequel.
We don’t know who will be taking on the role of the chainsaw wield manic, but we do know that the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre will star Elsie Fisher (“Castle Rock”), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (“Star Trek”), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (“War & Peace”).
