“Clarice” New Series Based on ‘Silence of the Lambs’ Ordered at CBS

Last we heard, the Silence of the Lambs spinoff series, “Clarice“, was given a pilot order by CBS for the potential series. However, The Hollywood Reporter have announced that the series has been picked up and will debut in the 2020-21 broadcast schedule.

Stepping into the role of the FBI agent Clarice Sterling is Rebecca Breeds (“Pretty Little Liars”). Also attached are Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Nick Sandow (“Orange is the New Black“) and Michael Cudlitz (“The Walking Dead“)

The series will take place in 1993 a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. “Clarice” will be a deep dive into the untold personal story of Clarice Starling. Viewers will follow as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington.

CBS Clarice

“After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes — Clarice Starling,” co-writers and producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet said in a joint statement announcing the news. “Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always.”

The current pandemic has effectively shut down most film and television production all over the country. So there is no news of when “Clarice” will be arriving on your small screens. For now at least we know that CBS will be bringing us more of the beloved FBI agent to us soon. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd for more of all things horror!
