‘Scream 5’: Radio Silence Team Rounds out Cast for latest Sequel
Casting for the next installment of the Wes Craven created franchise Scream is fully underway. Scream 5 will be different for a number of reasons. However, most notably, this will be the first Scream film not helmed by Craven. Something that the leading lady, Neve Campbell was very apprehensive about.
Scream 5 will be helmed by Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence. The screenplay was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
Undoubtedly, the Radio Silence team made a good impression on Campbell because she recently announced that she would be returning to the role of Sidney Prescott via social media.
Campbell will be joining her long time co-stars David Arquette and Courteney Cox who are also back playing their Scream characters. Marley Shelton also just closed a deal to reprise her role, of Deputy Judy Hicks she played in Scream 4, per sources for Deadline.
However, the directors have also already begun bringing in new faces to add to the star power of franchise. The new faces to the franchise are Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mikey Madison, Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. The production will shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Many fans were waiting to hear of Neve Campbell’s involvement in Scream 5 before, figuratively, approving of a new Craven-less sequel. The late horror icon Wes Craven helmed all the previous installments. So the Radio Silence team have their work cut out for them. But Campbell said in a statement to Bloody Disgusting, that fans will be delighted. “After spending time speaking with Radio Silence, they have shown such love, respect and admiration for Wes Craven and all that he’s created in the Scream franchise. I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.”
Horror fans are always weary of new sequels but for now we can at least talk solace that we get to see our Scream heroes back together again, with a new killer ready to pick up the Ghostface mask and knife. Scream 5 is currently expected to hit theaters on January 14th 2022. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd for more of all things horror,
