Regardless if fans hoped for a Scream 5 or not, they are getting one. The latest installment of the Wes Craven built franchise has already landed directors to helm the project. The Ready-or-Not film filmmaking team Radio Silence will be in charge of bring the new film to life. Comprised of members Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella, the team is set to tackle the new Scream movie according to Collider.
Scream 4 failed to drive as much excitement as the original trilogy. But in recent years, Hollywood has been giving more films continuations instead of remakes. Such as the new direction the Halloween franchise has taken since 2018.

Campbell recently spoke with Jake Hamilton who hosts the Youtube channel Jake’s Takes. Neve Campbell confirmed she has been approached for Scream 5:
“They’ve come to me and we’re having conversations. It’s a little hard at the moment because of Covid to know when that will happen. Hopefully we can see eye to eye on all the elements that have to come into place for it to happen. I originally had been really apprehensive about doing another ‘Scream’ without Wes (Craven) because he was such a genius and he is the reason they were (what they were). But the directors have come to me with such a great appreciation for Wes’ work and they really want to honor it and that meant a lot to me and hopefully we’ll be able to do it”.
While nothing is confirmed, at least we now know that Campbell sees appreciation for the original creator, Wes Craven. What more could horror fans hope for?
