Ron Perlman Explains His Absence from the ‘Hellboy’ Reboot
The Hellboy reboot made it’s way to screens last year with less than stellar reviews and box-office draw. One of the reasons fans did not embrace the new reboot was that it had brought on David Harbor as the title character. Many fans were hopeful that original Hellboy, Ron Perlman, would return to fight the darkness again.
In a recent interview for his new film, Run With The Hunted, Perlman gave some Hellboy insights to ComicBookMovie.com. Perlman revealed that he was offered the chance to be in the reboot but passed it up. He also speculates on if Hellboy 3 will ever see production.
“The only thing that’s stopping the third Hellboy film is the fact that Guillermo [del Toro] is one of the busiest guys in the business,” Ron Perlman said. “He couldn’t do it with all the stuff he’s got lined up even if wanted to. The two films had nothing to do with one another.”
“The reboot was something I had the opportunity to participate in and decided that the only version of Hellboy I’m interested in is the one I do with Guillermo and so in walking away from it, I truly walked away from it, and haven’t seen it or heard much about it,” Perlman added. “I wished them well, but it was not in my bailiwick.”
While it is unlikely we will see Ron Perlman as Big Red again, you can see him in his new film Run With The Hunted now available on VOD service. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd for more of all things horror.
