‘Redrum’ A New Dark Dramedy Series in Development at NBC from ‘Good Girls’ Creator
NBC recently cancelled the series Good Girls, which starred Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman and Matthew Lillard, much to the dismay of its numerous fans. Now fans of the series can rejoice as NBC is in the process of delevoping a new series with creator/executive producer Jenna Bans. This new series entitled Redrum is said to be a “dark, thriller dramedy about female friends from Universal Television” according to sources for Deadline.
Despite it’s name and the connection to The Shinning and more recently Doctor Sleep, this new series will not connect in anyway to any Stephen King story. According to Deadline, “Redrum is described a sexy, swampy dark dramedy/thriller about two best friends — Jess and Sadie – who host a podcast about New Orleans’ most infamous serial killers.

But when they make fun of the wrong sociopath and people close to them start to turn up dead, our friends, who are grossly ill-equipped for this unfortunate circumstance, realize they have to do what the police haven’t: find the killer before they become the victims of their own story.”
Redrum will be written, directed and executive produced by Nzingha Stewart based on her original idea. With Bans executive producing under her production banner, Minnesota Logging Company. NBC bought the project last month before the decision to cancel Good Girls was official. However, many running series were chopped after the long hiatus caused by the global pandemic.
