‘Prey’: Disney Unveils New ‘Predator’ Movie That Takes Viewers to the Past
Disney Plus Day came with a few surprises for horror fans this year. The biggest news was centered around the film Prey, a new installment in the Predator franchise. The film was directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) and written by Patrick Aison, will be a prequel about the Predator’s first journey to our planet.
In a new interview with Collider Disney producers John Davis and John Fox gave away some insights into the new film and how it relates to the first film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. “It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force,” Davis explained.

“It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon. You’ll know what I mean once you see it,” promised Fox. Prey will center on Amber Midthunder (“Legion”) as a Comanche warrior who will square off against the alien warrior race 300 years in the past. As far as the rating of the film, Davis says “it all depends on how you end up cutting it, right? It was conceived as an R-rated movie. It could easily end up PG-13. I guess I’m going to find out what it has to be or what it is when it’s all cut together.”
Davis also says that this one will complement the original film’s premise and feel. “I feel like the first one was a wonderful, interesting movie and I know what worked about it. I feel like we kind of never got back there again. We ended up in different places. I think this is a worthy complement to the first one. It’s going to be as good.”
While we don’t have many details about this upcoming film, Prey is supposed to hit Hulu sometime in summer 2022. Be sure to stay tuned to ScaryNerd and we will keep you updated as this story develops.
