‘Pet Sematary’ Origin Film In the Works at Paramount+
Paramount Studio has announced plans for a new origin story of Stephen King’s novel Pet Sematary. The new film will head to their streaming platform Paramount+, which is currently known as CBS All Access.
Deadline reports that the new origins story based on the Stephen King bestseller Pet Sematary, will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Writing the script is Jeff Buhler, who also co-wrote the 2019 reboot of the film, that starred Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow. Over the three films, including the 1989 film and its sequel Pet Sematary 2, the story has grossed over $175M world wide for Paramount.

Plot details have not been released, other than the film will focus on an origin story, presumably before the Creed’s moved to the small Maine town. Recently, King wrote a new coda, or ending, for the CBS limited series “The Stand.” Suggesting that fans could see more King and Paramount remakes/reboots coming soon.
