The new trailer for ‘Ma’ gives us a look into Octavia Spencer’s dark side. The new Blumhouse thriller looks to explore what happens when you ask the wrong stranger to buy alcohol.
The film is directed by Tate Taylor and also co-stars Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Missi Pyle, McKaley Miller, Corey Fogelmanis, Gianni Paolo, and Dante Brown. This cautionary horror tale harkens back to the old school 80’s trope. Don’t Drink, don’t have sex and you’ll be the final girl, right? This film is sure to give old and new fans of horror some new chills and thrills from an Oscar winning actress.
The story follows a teenager who is new in town and her group of hooligan friends. Octavia Spencer stars as Sue Ann, who is randomly selected to help the teens buy booze. However, they soon realize Ma is little crazy and their dream party house becomes a dark and twisted nightmare.
Octavia Spencer will also be joining Anne Hathaway in the upcoming latest adaptation of ‘The Witches’ from Robert Zemeckis. The 1990 adaptation follows a 7-year-old boy who accidentally stumbles upon a witches convention in the English countryside. When he is discovered, the witches promptly turn him into a mouse, and chaos ensues. The new script will be co-written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Zemeckis. Guillermo del Toro was set to direct and had even written an early draft of the script. However, he will be a producer alongside Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron. with an earlier draft coming from Guillermo del Toro.
