MTV’s ‘Scream’ Reboot, ‘Scream: Resurrection’ Gets July Debut after Move to VH1
After three and a half years the reworked season three of MTV’s Scream will finally make its debut. The six-episode season of Scream: Resurrection will air on Monday, July 8, on VH1 instead of its original home on MTV.
The season will begin on Monday, and will run for two hours per night, starting at 9 p.m., through Wednesday, July 10. This is currently the only scripted series on VH1 and was the last scripted series at MTV, which are both overseen by Chris McCarthy.

Season three centers on Deion Elliot (RJ Cyler), a local star football running back, whose tragic past comes back to haunt him and threaten his hard-earned plans for the future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends. The cast also includes Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, C.J. Wallace, Giullian Yao Gioiello and Paris Jackson.
The Return of Ghostface
The third season of Scream was announced back in Oct. of 2016. With Brett Matthews (Supernatural) coming on board as the drama’s showrunner. The series later added Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty as exec producers for the series. Which features an all-new cast, premise and location. But among the new changes, season three is also bringing the show back to its big screen roots. Season three will be the return of the original Ghostface mask, which MTV’s Scream had previously been unable to use. Also back are the voice talents of Roger Jackson, who voiced the killer in the Scream film franchise. This marks the first time the original Ghostface mask will be used for a television spinoff.
