Paramount Pictures is broadening John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place universe. According to sources for Deadline, Paramount has given the sequel to Jeff Nichols to write and direct the third film in the franchise.
A Quiet Place starred real life spouses, Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The film was co-written/directed by Krasinski and grossed around $340 million. Krasinski also wrote and directed the sequel, which was pushed from its original release date due to COVID. Paramount now has A Quiet Place Part 2 set for an April 2021 release.
The studio hasn’t released any details for the newest sequel except setting a 2022 premiere date. While the first two films follow the same family during an apocalypse scale invasion, it is clear that there are other survivors in the world. So we may see more new faces and storylines introduced in the sequel.
In A Quiet Place, the family, struggles to survive and stay quiet in a remote home. The creatures of the film hunt based on sound, which leaves humans, particularly small children, very vulnerable. The first movie gave viewers only glimpses of the creatures abilities and weaknesses. Leaving a lot of room to explore the creatures more thoroughly.

Hopefully it will dive deeper into the horror genre than the first film. The first focused more on the drama and familial issues than it did the horror. However, Jeff Nichols seems like a perfect complement to Krasinski’s style, and to bring a new film to the universe. He wrote and directed his last film, Loving, which earned Ruth Negga an Oscar nomination.
