This July 4th, Hulu and Blumhouse want you to see the American Dream in a different light. “Into the Dark” is back with its latest holiday themed horror episode. The Independence Day episode, Culture Shock will premiere on Hulu this Thursday. With the help of it’s well known cast, the episode will explore the story of an immigrant’s journey to the United States.

The episode follows a young, pregnant, Hispanic woman making her way to the American border. She completes her journey only to find herself trapped in a strange place with even stranger people. Told in both English and Spanish, this thriller shows how the American Dream isn’t always as it seems.

In the past few years we have seen a resurgence of social issue themes within the horror genre. Now Hulu’s “Into the Dark” is adding to it with the directorial debut of Gigi Saul Guerrero. This thriller is based on a script she wrote with Efren Hernandez and James Benson. The film stars Martha Higareda (Altered Carbon) and also features Richard Cabral (Mayans MC), Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator) and Creed Bratton (The Office).

Culture Shock will premiere on Independence Day, and marks the tenth episode in the year-long series of 12 feature-length horror productions.
