Evan Peters Cast as Serial Killer in Ryan Murphy’s “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”
Evan Peters has been cast in the upcoming Ryan Murphy and Netflix, limited series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, according to sources for Deadline. The new serial killer thriller was created by Murphy and longtime collaborator Ian Brennan. Also joining the cast is Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown and Colin Ford, and Richard Jenkins.
Director Carl Franklin (Mindhunter) will helm the pilot episode for Netflix and Janet Mock (Pose) will also write and direct write several episodes. The 10-episode limited series will cover large amounts of time spanning from the 1960s to the early ’90s when Dahmer was arrested.
Monster follows Jeffrey Dahmer (Evan Peters) through his spree as America’s most notorious cannibal. Coming from the view point of his victims, the series will focus largely on the “police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree. The series dramatizes at least 10 instances where Dahmer was almost apprehended but ultimately let go.
The series also is expected to touch on white privilege, as Dahmer, a clean-cut, good-looking white guy, was repeatedly given a free pass by cops as well as by judges who were lenient when he had been charged with petty crimes.” Niecy Nash will tackle the roll as the female lead portraying, Glenda Cleveland. Cleveland was a neighbor of Dahmer’s who tried and failed numerous times to alert the police and FBI to Dahmer’s unusual behavior.

Evan Peters will have the task of portraying the Milwaukee Cannibal a.k.a Milwaukee Monster, Jeffrey Dahmer. Dahmer was an active serial murderer from 1978 to 1991, killing and dismembered 17 men and boys many of whom were people of color. What makes this case so interesting to true crime fans is the fact that most of his murders involved cannibalism and even necrophilia. He was eventually convicted of 16 murders and died in prison in 1994, just two years into his sentences.
