Edgar Wright Hears London Calling for Next Horror Project
Director Edgar Wright has a long list of original films under his belt, including Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Hot Fuzz, and Baby Driver. Of course, horror fans hold his film Shaun of the Dead close to their cold dead hearts. In a recent interview, Wright revealed that he will be making his return to the genre with a new horror-thriller set in London. The project is already underway and will begin shooting this summer. The screenplay was co-written with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful) and will have a female lead.
In the interview with Empire magazine, Wright references Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion as inspiration for the film. When asked about the project Wright explained why the film will be set in London. “I realized I had never made a film about central London — specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.” He also confirmed that a first draft of Baby Driver 2 exists in some form.
