The Amusement Park George A. Romero

George A. Romero’s Lost Film ‘The Amusement Park’ Acquired by Yellow Veil For Release

Yellow Veil Pictures has officially bought the worldwide sales rights to The Amusement Park. According to THR the George A. Romero Foundation recently discovered the film and restored it under the direction of producer Suzanne Romero.

Yellow Veil Pictures will begin to shop the 1973 film feature at the Cannes virtual market. Originally commissioned from Romero by the Lutheran Society, The Amusement Park stars Lincoln Maazel. Maazel plays an elderly man who becomes disoriented “and increasingly isolated as the pains, tragedies, and humiliations of aging in America are illustrated by his journey among roller coasters and chaotic crowds.”

“We couldn’t be more excited to team up with the George A. Romero Foundation to bring this horrifying lost film to audiences. George’s work here, as always, is an unnerving criticism of American society, this time embodied through a relentless amusement park,” Yellow Veil Pictures co-founder Justin Timms said in a statement.

Romero, the father of zombie horror, is most well known for Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. Even though The Amusement Park is not technically horror, Suzanne Romero thinks fan will still enjoy.

“Though not in the horror genre it is George’s most terrifying film. It has Romero’s unique footprint all over it!” Suzanne Romero added. Be sure to follow ScaryNerd and we’ll keep you updated as this story develops.
