Well it’s official, Sarah Paulson will not have a significant role in the new season of “American Horror Story.” Variety exclusively broke the news yesterday. The upcoming ninth season of the FX series is entitled “American Horror Story: 1984” appears to pay homage to 1980s horror slasher films.
Back in April we reported that Paulson was unsure if she would be returning for the ninth season. Paulson has appeared in a starring role for the last eight seasons. Early this year we also announced that Evan Peters would also not be in the new season. There is still hope that Paulson will return in some form, possibly a cameo.
Sarah Paulson is currently working on another upcoming FX series “Mrs. America,” about the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. She is also working with “AHS” creator Ryan Murphy on a new Netflix series “Ratched.” The series will tell the origin story of Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. FX renewed “American Horror Story” for a 10th season, last year. Even though Murphy is exiting his deal with 20th Century Fox and moving over to Netflix. Season 10 of “American Horror Story” is expected to air in 2020.
“American Horror Story: 1984” is set to premiere on Sept. 18. While we still have few details about the ninth season, we do know that Emma Roberts will have a role.
