Indie Horror film ‘Head Count’ gets new trailer and release date
Samuel Goldwyn films has released a new trailer for the Indie Horror film, Head Count. The film follows Evan, who joins a group of teens on a getaway in Joshua Tree. While the group exchanges ghost stories around the campfire, Evan reads aloud a mysterious chant from an internet site. After that nothing goes as planned as the group begins to feel a presences among them. “As unsettling, inexplicable events become more frequent, Evan realizes this summoned shape-shifting creature is targeting them to fulfill a deadly ritual.”
This new trailer is much more dark and disturbing than previous ones. It seems to lend itself to the mysteriousness, chaotic nature and somewhat confusion the film seems to be aiming for. This type of unknown entity in an isolated landscape is nothing new to horror.
Miles Fineburg of Samuel Goldwyn films negotiated the deal. “We were struck by the unique use of popular horror influences like THE THING and IT FOLLOWS, melded with classic urban legends such as Bloody Mary. Elle Callahan has showed herself to be a smart new voice in the horror space and we are excited to help bring it to audiences.”
Head Count stars Isaac W. Jay as Evan, Ashleigh Morghan, Bevin Bru, Tory Freeth, Michael Herman, and Sam Marra. The film is directed by Elle Callahan and written by Michael Nader.
The film made its way around the festival circuit after premiering last September at the LA Film Festival, where it won the Nightfall Award. Samuel Goldwyn films picked up the U.S. rights in late March. The film will be released in theaters and on VOD on June 14th.
